The Avaya 9508 is designed to meet the needs of demanding users, especially executives and managers who rely heavily on high-quality, real-time voice communications. It boasts a large white backlit display with 8 lines and 32 characters, featuring 181x121 pixels for clear visibility. This phone is equipped with 8 programmable feature buttons that have three levels, providing a total of 24 programmable buttons. Each button is equipped with dual LEDs (red/green) for line/call status. The fixed feature buttons include Speaker, Headset, Mute, Volume, Avaya Menu, Phone, History, Contacts, and Voicemail Message.

For users requiring additional programmable buttons, the Avaya 9508 supports the Avaya BM12 Button Module, allowing an additional 24 programmable buttons. Up to three BM12 modules can be added per phone, with the requirement of an 1151C1 power supply to power the BM12. The phone also features contextual softkeys (4 buttons), a high-quality 2-way speakerphone, wall-mountable capability (requires optional Avaya 9500/9600 Wall Mount Kit), a headset port, navigation keys, a message waiting indicator, and a 4-way cluster of navigational keys with an OK button.

It's important to note that the Avaya 9508 is not compatible with Avaya Aura Communication Manager but is designed to work seamlessly with Avaya IP Office Release 7.0 or later. Additionally, the phone has transitioned into Global/Icon versions, characterized by Icon keys without English text below the buttons.
